This is incomprehensibly rushed. I'm guessing they're looking to finish Old Testament so they can adapt New Testament and Othinus next time, but the results honestly aren't pretty. Roughly 15 volumes in 24 episodes is insane.
In that context, though, I'll congratulate them on more or less communicating what you need to know. It's still butchered and shortened but what can you do…

Here are my "thoughts" (in "short"):

• Anime of the Season (AOTS): Asobi Asobase
First & last episodes were a little bit weak, but every other episode made me laugh out loud several times.
Overall: Greatest.

• Anime of the Season Had Asobi Asobase Not Been A Thing (AOTSHAANBAT): Happy Sugar Life, surprisingly enough
Surprisingly good psych horror. The one time they really went all out of with the edgy violence it hits you like a sack of bricks. Also a great example of how anime can simply LOOK good. Give the director a medal or something.
Overall: Good.

• Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu
Konosuba but about 35% as funny and very very lewd. Trashy but kinda fun. Surprisingly "standard" isekai, especially in the second half.
Overall: Positive meh.

• Hataraku Saibou
Cool concept, boring and repetitive execution.
Overall: Negative meh.

• Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro
For me it was really hit-or-miss, and unforunately mostly misses. Perhaps on a worse season it could've stood out better. I am sure many will shed tears at hearing that I disliked this show, but don't worry, we'll pull through this together. Everything will be diejoubu.
Overall: Positive meh.

• Jashin-chan Dropkick
Cute little thing. Not much LOL humor here, just lots of dumb things that happen on screen for 20 minutes then you forget all about it and move on with your life.
Overall: Positive meh.

Hataraku Saibou was good until the Cancer arc where the dumb drama got boring. I'm surprised you even bothered with Yuragi-sou, I don't think I saw anyone watching or talking about it anywhere. It's one of the ecchi manga that sells based on its lewd artwork, not on its story.

Speaking of ecchi with lewd artwork, I heard Bokuben is getting an anime, so I hope it'll be good.

Repeating myself from /r/ive a bit:

I thought of opening a thread and recommending this series several times, but I'm glad I didn't. It started out an okay-ish thriller with cool character and an interesting setting. A bit wordy (it is based on an RPGmaker game) but otherwise fine.
But then right around ~ep11 it took a sharp left turn into nonsenseville. Before that, the series was mostly about the fun adventure of edgeboy and his pet gaijin girl, killing off ridiculous and unique villains one by one. But then, Mr. Priest turns from just "the 4th guy they need to kill" into some sort of mastermind ultra-villain who is omniscient but is really cheeky about it. Then the most annoying of the previous 3 villains comes back to life.
I was willing to overlook it at first, hoping that once they move on from Mr. Priest's floor it'll be over, but it never really ends. It just kept digging in and made less and less sense the more it dragged on.
That "witch trial" was a real turning point.

So yeah. Don't watch.

I may be wrong about this, but isn't it implied that Rachel ended up killed herself? Like, seeing Zaku for that one last time was a hallucination?

I don't mean "why are all the main characters in real-life settings Japanese", "why is Japan often the only country left after the end of the world", or even "why do isekai inhabitants always hail Japanese food/drink/customs as the greatest thing ever, including sliced bread". All of those can be at least partially excused by the rule that a writer always writes what he knows and is comfortable with, and by the fact that most series are written for a Japanese audience, who expect to see mostly Japanese people if the story is set in Japan. It's basically the same deal as why Hollywood shows are either set in the United States or are only nominally set in (say) India or the Mideast.
I mean more of, why is it so commonly Japan against the world, both on a national level as well as a personal one? It's possible that I've just read so much that it's getting old for me, but it seems to me that "that Jap is going to go down" or "damn Japs" shows up -way- too much in fighting or war shows, and also it's pretty common for many countries' governments (except, usually, Japan's) to be shown as villainous and more or less wholly irredeemable. Is this enjoyable for the target audience? It breaks immersion and suspension of disbelief for me. You could be generous and say that the narration is biased since it's being "told" by the (Japanese) protagonists, but that's a pretty weak argument if you ask me.

File: Shin Godzilla Way to Go U….webm (3.47 MB, 854x356) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size.

If you mean recent shows like GATE, at this point Japan has begun to shift towards remilitarization. This month for the first time since WWII, the Japanese military launched an amphibious landing on foreign soil, in this case the Philippines to participate in US and Flip war games.
Last week Abe held a massive military parade including flyovers from F-35s to display Japan's military might, and it's clear Abe or at least supporters of his have their hands in the anime industry and other forms of entertainment (Shin Godzilla had a 5+ minute section of JSDF tank, jet and helicopter porn)
Also I often see at least the US on the side of Japan, except for the cases of GATE and Angel Cop.

Every country wanting to better their military image does this.

 No.27587

>>27585
The US is only generally on the side of Japan when they don't take a leading role. Even with the remilitarization in mind though it feels pretty, uh, I dunno. They make it out that literally everyone hates them "damn Japs" when in my experience the Japanese are actually one of the most well-liked foreigners, anywhere, known mostly for anime, being polite, their great food, and being somewhat cold and distant, which is pretty damn good considering what people generally have to say about their Asian neighbours or the other world powers. It's just weird. Like, is it projection?

>>27581
>It's basically the same deal as why Hollywood shows are either set in the United States or are only nominally set in (say) India or the Mideast
Writers write what they know, and when they write things they don't know they tend to do so poorly. Fu Manchu and Ivan Ivanichy Ivanovich are only amusing so many times before they're revealed for the caricatures they really are, and most plots in any case have no real need of foreign-ness. If you're talking about the agony of getting jilted or the stress of the Big Job, it doesn't really matter where the actual story is set outside of cultural coloration, and audiences generally like seeing things through a familiar lens, not a completely foreign one.

 No.27588

>>27587
>in my experience the Japanese are actually one of the most well-liked foreigners, anywhere
Sounds like you haven't been to any other Asian countries or heard what they have to say about the Japanese.
South Koreans, Chinese, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, all hate Japan (and each other) passionately.

 No.27590

>>27588
I mean, that's mostly because the Japanese basically went full Lebenstraum on them. Besides the ones they've recently been at war with I really think Japan is one of the more respected nationalities.

 No.27591

>>27590
I think his point was not that a lot of countries hate Japan, but rather that the countries closest to it, and therefore the ones Japan is likely to have the most contact with, do. Therefore Japan can understandably have a biased perception of its own image.

Has Samachan been watching the Godzilla anime movies?
What do you think them/it so far?

I've heard complaints about the protagonist but I actually like him and think he serves the role well. Godzilla being a fucking tree is pretty lame but they did a good job (at least at the end of the first film) showcasing his power.
The second film had even less Godzilla screentime that Godzilla films with very low Godzilla screentime, though. The first time he moves is over a full hour in.
I liked the brown normal sized versions of the Shobijin, though, and the re-imaginings of Ghidorah and Mothra were really creative, just a shame Godzilla himself is so dull.

 No.27510

I thought the first one was mostly terrible, but the second one was better. The animation is ugly.
Overall, I've liked them enough to keep watching.

 No.27524

I really like it
I don't see why people dislike the protagonist. It's not like the average Godzilla humanprotagonist is much more memorable. "fuckgodzillakillgodzilla" is the logical conclusion for a human main character in Godzilla

Godzilla is fucking great in this. You really feel his power, how fucking huge he is.

I wish they animated the stuff that happens in the prequel novel instead though. It's a big kaiju apocalypse that sounds way cooler than what we actually got.

Moth humans are a really great addition to the franchise.

I read this back when I was a teen at an impressionable age, and Bandou was a character I held as a roll model or hero as lame as that sounds. So I haven't been as affected by a visual in manga as I was by seeing him with his guts shown hanging out and eyes bleeding.

I think splitting up the hemolytic shock episode was a bad idea. Cliffhangers are all well and good but I think it drains away the momentum of the show, since there was heavy reliance on a feeling of urgency involved.
