This is getting an anime? Fuck yes.
Anyone know if its getting subbed?
I hope so, it sounds pretty fun from what I've read about it. It'd be a shame if more things dont get subbed because of amazon and the like.
Horrible will probably rip it at some point if nobody else is stepping up, I don't know if any groups are doing it. Isn't this up DDY or Chihiro's alley though?
>>21252>Isn't this up DDY or Chihiro's alley though?
It really is. This would be great with some actual good fansubs this season.
Erai has it ripped on .si, they are doing what horriblesubs is from my understanding, except faster from what I've seen.
Isn't Erai raws tho
No, they are practically rips like Horrible.
So they have subs?
Why the fuck do they call it Erai Raws then?
Well fuck, guess I should watch it then. I'll check some sub group sites and see if anyone is picking it up first.>>21254>.si
This is off topic, but it sucks that pantsu is hot garbage, because I don't want to use .si at all. Might just move back to IRC for my anime.
What's wrong with Pantsu?
The scraper is broken so there hasn't been a HorribleSubs upload in around a week, it has really bad lag and constantly gives a 502, the timestamps are screwed up and they're making no effort to fix it, the design is fairly ugly, and to top that all off, they seem like they're trying to make aesthetic changes rather than make the site work.
But I refuse to use .si out of principle, so IRC it is, at least for now.
If you're not looking for raws and stuff, shanaproject.com is pretty on point (for En-anime only though), and even provides an RSS feed like Nyaa used to. Just pop in the anime you're picking up and shove the feed onto your client.
Where are Erai's subs ripped from, anyway?>>21260>>21262
I learned from a primary source that pretty much all of the drama over .si was forced and fake, just herkz (who wasn't even involved with it to begin with) and his ilk trying to start shit where there was none by spreading misinformation. I thought the same as you at first, but now I'm convinced that there's no reason not to use .si, especially since it works perfectly.
Who runs .si then? If it's not run by the cartel though, I'll probably use it. It's better than pantsu, which is sad because pantsu had a head start and is the more popular one.
From what I gather, it's some cartel and some non-cartel people, because the project was started with the pure intentions of simply making a Nyaa replacement, not as some kind of cartel scheme. They actually started working on it the day Nyaa went down, and only heard about Pantsu later. Any animosity was only caused by people starting rumors about both projects, then intensified by massive uninformed shitflinging on 4chins and so on; you know how internet drama works. And herkz likes to hang out in the nyaa-devs IRC channel, but he's never actually contributed anything other than poisoning public opinion of the site by getting his filthy name associated with it.
Bottom line is, .si is run by competent programmers, who just wanted to help, and it's a perfectly functional site that does not deal in shady practices.
I'll give it a shot and download this from there, then.
I think it has a lot of potential. I'm happy that it is more iyashikei in its presentation with subtler emotions. Somewhat akin to gourmet SoL like oishinbo and cooking papa and maybe a hint of YKK.
I've skimmed through translations of the LN and it seems that it is chapter based and each chapter tells the back story of each patrons as well as their encounter with Nekoya and its cuisine. So, I think the pace will be consistent, whether there will be something greater remains to be seen.
Sounds like it will be very fun to watch, then. I can already tell that I will enjoy this show immensely if it stays this way. A nice relaxing show with a not too serious story is right up my alley.
I'll give it a download then
Seems like there is another series very similar to this by the name of Isekai Izakaya Nobu in the works. That one features a more japanese theme and cuisine with less fantasical creatures, at least from what I've seen. Between these two and Dungeon Meshi, it seems that Isekai + Gourmet is really trending right now.

Pretty comfy, aside from that atrocious OP. I think it might have been better if they had cut out the dragon and given Aletta's segment a little more breathing room, since everything felt just a tad rushed, but with any luck that won't be problem next time since the premise is mostly established now.>>21277>>21285
Her hair looks like her horns! It's adorable!
I thought they actually are horns.
No, I mean, her twintails are the same shape as her horns. Like she gave herself a second, larger set of horns made of hair. I don't know if that's intentional or just a coincidence, but it's damn cute either way.
Oh, I see what you mean now. It's very cute, hopefully we can see her in more hairstyles as the series goes on.
>>21299>but with any luck that won't be problem next time
And it wasn't! Both parts were very comfy.>>21421
She looks like Christ-chan there.
Yeah, he's got a good older man voice. I bet he's old in real life too hehe.

He's 63 years young!
The other world is pretty brutal, huh?
Next episode is about elves. I hope you've prepared yourself to kneel to your betters.
New episode has elves!
It seems like there might be a theme with each episode's customers too, last episodes was family ties to the restaurant, and this one seemed to focus on non humans. Or maybe I'm just thinking too much. I really shouldn't watch shows like this when I'm hungry.
I love the elf. Elves need to be in anime EVEN MORE.

Filthy non-human sympathizers. Around elves, watch yourselves.
The lizardmen are kind of adorable though.
That got surprisingly real for a comfy eating anime.
Also, it's been a long time since I skipped an OP, and even longer since I skipped one that wasn't ear.RAPE, but I just couldn't take any more this week. How did such a terrible OP even get made in the first place, let alone greenlit for a series that's otherwise so nice and relaxed?>>21809
You totally missed the point, even though it was spelled out in the next part. Half-breeds can't live in normal society. Her only options were to become a nun, sorcerer, or mercenary, or to live in an isolated society out in the sticks. Since only the fourth option comes with the prospect of marriage, and she apparently didn't want to become a farm wife, she's necessarily not going to get married, even if there were some weirdo who wanted to leave society behind and marry a monster.
Pleasant watch, we're finally getting a new employee next week and it's an elf.
I want to sniff her prebath
And she doesn't have super demon strength? Tch.
Anyway, that was the best episode yet, despite how heavy-handed they got with the "wow a MAGIC device that makes clean water!" stuff.>>21880
Aletta is a certified Good Girl™.
She did mention that she's practically human with a demon "brand" in the form of a horn.>>21901
Technically she's both a (dragon) god and a friendless "shut-in".
Next week will be mermaids. Will be interesting to see the remaining five dragons and the nature of the world and Nekoya.
There are way too many cute girls in this show! I don't think I can handle it.>>21951
I wonder how mermaids can enter the Nekoya, do they grow legs? or just slide around on the floor?
It's an elf, that means it's good.
Does that actually happen in the source material? It seems like a weird change of setting and format based on the anime, considering that we've never even seen the inside of Nekoya on an off day, let alone the real world outside. I'd like to see it too, it would definitely be cute if a bit predictable, but it just doesn't seem to fit the established tone.
But she LOOKS like an Elf.
This is a weird thought, but during that episode, I kept wondering if people from a medieval fantasy world would really be so impressed with modern mass-produced beer.
Probably depends on what kind of beer.
Absolutely, yes. When it comes to beer, the "modern" outweighs the "mass-produced" by a huge margin. Medieval beer was primarily a safer alternative to water for general drinking purposes, with just enough alcohol to sanitize it and no particularly strong flavor (usually it didn't even have hops, IIRC). Just imagine room-temperature, mostly flat, mildly alcoholic, yeasty wheat water.
In contrast, even the cheapest, worst modern beer is a totally different beverage, because it's still made with the benefit of modern knowledge, techniques, and technology. It's cold, it's tasty, it's strong, it's got a head! Can you imagine drinking something like that for the first time after a lifetime of dwarven cave spirits? Amazing!
Not only beers but the general world population might actually be eating better or at least on par with kings and royalties of the past.
Yeah, a lot of real medieval beer was probably gross (though I assume people who could afford it had access to pretty good stuff), but since this is fantasy, I'm imagining that the beer in Fairyland is something along the lines of an English bitter (or maybe a stout). I have no reason for that, it's just what I picture Dwarves making and drinking. I have a hard time imagining they would be over the moon about Asahi or Sapporo once they got over the novelty of its strong carbonation.>>22116
Absolutely. Most of Western Europe didn't have much in the way of spices until they established trade with Asia.
how do you people know all this
were you there?
If you scratch a fantasy nerd, you'll find a medieval history buff underneath.
don't go around scratching nerds
I'm just a beer nerd (´・ω・｀)
Because of the turn this thread's taken, I just spent the last couple hours on Wikipedia reading about the history of beer.
Drinking beers and discussing history with /sama/friends!
I don't drink though.>>22135
Now you can impress people with your random knowledge of beer.
I assume they have some magical use that makes them valuable to people outside of the fairy realm.
Yes, clearly it's a magical seed, and presumably for something a bit more impressive than a door-opening golem. The thing that bothers me is how much emphasis was placed on it. It seemed like such an obvious Chekhov's gun, I was thinking about it for the rest of the episode, but it was just never mentioned again. And considering the nature of this series, it's not likely to reappear. What was the point? Was the whole portentous exchange about the seed really just filler?
I guess it was reason enough to make the half elf pay for all their future meals. Probably just to show off its value or something.
Please let there be a second season.
