why so negative? it's a madhouse original
they always do cool stuff, if nothing else
What if they end it with the main cast freezing to death and then they cut to credits?
would be a pretty swell ending I think
An anime adaption of the antarctic expeditions or arctic explorers, most of whom died, would actually be pretty damn neat.
She's too scared to move it, even though it's dripping on her. It's symbolic.
>>23730>still waiting for a cute girls design & launch spacecraft show, tho
There was Classroom Crisis, but it was pretty dull.
Get this smug bitch out of the way by any means necessary, I hope.
Realistically, it looks like the fourth girl (the one on the train at the end) is the daughter of smug bitch #2, so that'll be the connection that actually gets them on the boat.
So basically there's a good chance they're going to leave Japan now?
Looks like you already failed the class.
They'll probably be on their way by episode 7 or so considering that the plot is actually moving for some reason.
I still think it was a reasonable prediction based on what little we knew, but yeah, I'm happy to (probably) be wrong.
You know, I don't really care if they get to Antarctica or not. This show's just too much fun to watch.
I think it would be better if they got there though
While it's fun for now if they keep doing the same stuff over and over and never move forward, it'll be boring.
Yeah, for sure. I'm just saying I wouldn't feel ripped off if they didn't actually go. The show's an absolute pleasure as it is.
I told you they're gonna do it
This show turned out a lot better than I expected it to.
Now that you isolate her from the show she looks like she legitimately has downs or something
She's always given off an aura of being super protectable though.
all the way to antarctica, you say?
Alright I chuckled.
Seeing the pace at which things are moving forward and the nature of discussion for the past weeks, this could have worked as a 6-episode TV or OVA series where in the end we, the viewers, are the losers who poked fun at these girls for daring to pursue an ambitious dream.
That aside, nice episode. Pleasantly surprised to see Megumi put to good use besides being the MC's supporting friend.
I doubt anything else this seasons is going to top that moment in terms of pure satisfaction.>>24317
Megumi needs help, that entire subplot was ridiculous.
I don't know how anyone here thought they wouldn't go, seeing how the OP is filled with them in Antarctica.
Because when all we had to go on was the title and PV, there was nothing to indicate that it wasn't all a metaphor for coming of age or whatever; the most the PV showed was the girls wistfully looking at maps and a boat.
And the OP did help ease that worry, but there are plenty of OPs that don't reflect what actually happens in their series, so I wasn't totally convinced until about episode 4. Though there IS still time for>35% the last episode ends with them on a boat

We haven't even had a pirate arc yet.
To be honest I actually thought it'd be funny if the ship exploded on its way there and they made the rest on a sub or something, but oh well.

This show has really turned into one of the ones I'm most looking forward to watching each week. Who would have thought watching cute girls go to Antarctica would turn out so fun! and to those who thought they wouldn't show them in Antarctica: In your face!
Hai, hai, I must have said it around episode three or four as well, but I'm happy to be proven wrong.>>24672
What's the name of their band?
>>24673>What's the name of their band?
I think they look more like anarchist protesters than muslims.
>>24729>i stole this joke
More like, you freebooted it.
Showing off her manly strength.
Girls gotta look good yanno
>>24807>A little late for a christmas episode
Was the broadcasting date pushed back at some point? Maybe they thought the anime would air in the fall season?
Is that common? I think it just fits because of the whole cold theme maybe.
Also, Shirase looks cute with this hairstyle!
Goddamn, all that training on the boat wasn't for nothing, huh?>>24808
Sometimes you've just gotta have a Christmas episode in March, man.
You know, maybe, just maybe, a christmas episode in March is intended to inspire the feeling of seasonal alienation you'd get from travelling to the opposite hemisphere.
Wouldn't it make more sense to do it around June or July then? Did this have a manga or anything or is it an original
Maybe the original source material had this chapter happen during Christmas?
It's an original, you double bwaka.
But that's overthinking it anyway; it just happens to be airing now, so the Christmas episode just happens to be out of season. It happens all the time.
Mind you, I wasn't implying that they planned to air this season specifically in order to pull this off, but rather that maybe they happened to notice that the awkwardness of watching an out-of-season christmas episode was akin to what the characters themselves might be feeling and decided to play on that.
I still think you're overthinking it
Anyway I dunno if it's an original or anything, I don't generally check or anything until the season is over because otherwise I'm tempted to go and read the manga.
This is Riyo's art right
feels like we skipped an episode
I never watch this the day it comes out for some reason. I should probably try harder because I really do like this show.
Anyhow, this episode was a bit heavier than what I was expecting, I guess with the emptiness in Antarctica the personal problems start coming out.
Antarctica is one of the most depressingly barren places in the world.
>Antarctica is one of the most depressingly barren places in the world.
the other is Anonymous's sex life
Your mom likes my sex life.
I haven't gotten around to watching this episode yet
Did someone die or something?
Nobody that we didn't already know about, don't worry.
That sounds weirdly troubling and makes me scared.
So how do you guys reckon the gamble paid off?
The last couple of episodes were a bit too purposeful and obvious in their telegraphing of "be sad! this is terribly sad!", but even so I have to say this was a very well-done original. It had a solid plot and solid set of obstacles both emotional and physical, and it actually confronted them and attempted to overcome them. There wasn't much dillydallying or back-and-forth bullshit and the plot moved along and came to a solid conclusion (though I won't pretend it was 'satisfying' since I ended up sad, and sadness isn't satisfying). There's one more episode left to tie up loose ends, I imagine, but the original plotline is finished, I think. Unless they like, you know, bring her mom back to life or something.
It was really honestly well-directed and made the most out of the little time it had to tell a complete story. It's not my favorite show this season but it probably was my favorite show with a -plot- this season (as opposed to say, Slow Start or Yuru Camp). I hope we get more like this soon, one of the few I really looked forward to every week right on release. I hope the last episode doesn't drop the ball but I honestly can't imagine that happening.
the pacing got all wrong once they arrived a southyland
you use a lot of words but your analysis is completely wrong
I agree, it ended up being all-around better than I dared to hope for (though admittedly that wasn't much).>made the most out of the little time it had to tell a complete story
You know, 13 episodes is really not that short an amount of time; it's longer than a feature-length film, by far. I think a lot of TV anime give the impression of being too short simply because they're incomplete adaptations meant to advertise source material, but for an anime original, one cour is plenty for a competent writer and director to work with.
ah there's another episode
let's see if it redeems itself
(likelihood: extremely unlikely)
You're right but one season really does feel like a short amount of time
I suppose I'm really used to 2-cours and/or manga adaptions. Short-and-sweet types are pretty rare, especially ones that are well done.
The email was typed but never sent, it was in her outbox. Gin sent it after being left the computer.
Unless you mean metaphorically or something.
Not quite what I meant but I realized that her mom probably didn't have her computer on her when she disappeared
My original thought was that she took the picture and outboxed the email while dying or something, which is pretty fucking dark when you think about it.
Spoil that you damn pengin.
What about >>24977
They didn't spoiler it either! This is samafavoritism. I am NOT a penguin! >>24977

For that one you have to open the image, yours you can tell from just the thumnail.
If I hadn't had watched the episode already, I would have been spoiled just from opening samachan, without even clicking on this thread. Do you want me to only come to samachan when I'm caught up on anime? Then I'd never come to samachan you know.
Its just a haircut
though?! Not really a huge spoiler, I'll keep it in mind next time I guess.
Anything that has to do with the cuteness of a 2d girl shall not be spoiled.
This is like the 6th samacommandment.
I think that's what Jesus said to Moses before they fought.
