I hope they put in a good amount of lore, this world looks pretty interesting
AOTY at first sight
The first episode didn't blow me away, but I'm interested in seeing where this is going.
The show's premise in and of itself was fun, but right now a lot of the characters seem wafer thin to me.
They lack any sort of real depth besides one or two quirks that seem to define their entire character to me. It's getting hard for me to care about anything they do simply because they're more like cardboard cuts with their single gimmick scribbled on them than 'real' characters. It's almost as if the author had an idea for a plot, but not any ideas for characters, so he tried his best just to fill in character slots.
The MC and the girl are better, but the supporting cast fails miserably and distracts more than supports.
Thoughts? I'm probably going to give it one more episode to catch my attention but right now it's just hard to care about anything but the mecha, and I can always grab pictures of them after the fact.
For a show that seems to revolve around relationships and human connections it really needs strong characters and interactions between them. There's no point in even working the weird sexual connection into the piloting if all the characters are one note and boring. Like that short kid who called the mc a wuss, all he seemed to care about was proving he was better than the mc and shitting on him at every opportunity. It feels like such a single faceted character and if every supporting character is like that then I think it'll be really boring.
Maybe the side characters won't be around for long?
If that's not the case, and the other pairs are going to be involved in the plot, then presumably each of them will get a feature episode at some point. Otherwise, I basically agree, though I never expected it to be good for anything more than low-grade lewd to begin with.
Hopefuly they do get episodes to expand on their characters, the show is like 24 episodes long right? I cant imagine that they'll leave them as they are.
Yeah I suppose you're right. Did I have my expectations set too high? The whole premise and the unique pilot system was very interesting and got my hopes up.>>24108
I mean squandering 24 episodes isn't hard, just ask Re:Creators, a show full of potential that became a test case of 'how do you absolutely fucking ruin a good premise'.
I'm sad that TLR ended. I'm -angry- that it ended so fucking inconclusively.

She's probably a cripple now.
I like the emotive mechas. It's probably not new but it's not the usual.>>24103
Well, we can only hope they flesh out the characters more. I assume that these are the traits that they show outwardly but show their true selves in moments of vulnerability or comfort.
She wasn't getting executed or anything.
Just hauled off to an incredibly shitty space-orphanage where she will die from neglect or untreated disease a few months or years later.
This episode was nice, seeing how Hiro went from someone everyone looked up to to being next to useless was pretty rough though. I like the robots in this a lot too, they're very cute, if nothing else comes out of this show I'll still be happy as long as the cute robots are around. >>24209
I might be over thinking it, but it did feel like their leaving was more of a disposal of faulty products more than sending some kids back to their space orphanage. But if anything does come out of it it'll probably be later as some kind of twist or something.
I had that same impression of disposal. It also fits with them not getting names and not really being part of human society.
Yeah that was some really nice backstory for Hiro. The big fat robot with the gun is adorable in this.
I think episode 3 sold me on the show. The cast grew on me a little bit this episode.
Can we get a spinoff where we ignore the gay pilots and just have cute robots doing cute things?
Oni most likely. The girls are the ones that control the facial movements of the robots, that's why when they talk the robots do too, but when the guys talk its over the radio.
It's nice seeing this start to pick up, we better get more 002 because she's damn cute!
While I wish they had cut the introductory part down to three episodes instead of four, it definitely is looking more promising at this point, and I can't help but be a little bit excited.
But there's always time for everything to wrong.
>>24543>it was nice seeing an experienced team fighting.
I found it very irritating. The tactic they displayed was simply completely dysfunctional for the situation at hand. There were hundreds of the enemies running at them, but they focused for several seconds on a single one. No shit so many got past them. These "experienced" pilots were lucky that they weren't simply overrun.
This is generally what happens when authors attempt to showcase tactics. It happens almost all the time, in fact it's a lot more rare to see authors actually have well-thought out tactics.
I bet she was holding on very tight.
Also the new ED is pretty.

There was that human shaped thing that fell out of one of the dinos cores last episode, my guess is that the Dinos are just humans that evolved or genetically modified themselves differently than the ones in the moving cities.
The new opening gives a better look at the queen too, she does look kind of like Zero two, but also like a little girl. So who knows.
Are people still watching this trainwreck? After episode 13 I kind of lost interest.
Yeah, I gave up after it went full Trigger. Oh well, dunno what else I expected.
I found the fact that Kokoro wanted to make a baby despite not fully comprehending procreation profoundly disturbing. To think they even did the deed in the end. Anyway I'm curious as to what Klaxosaurs turn out to really be and the true origin of Oni and the Alpha Nines.
Yeah it was weird. I'm not entirely sure if it's actually brilliant because biological imperative and all that or just retarded. Probably the latter since archeological and psychological evidence suggests there's no real bias towards 'wanting to have kids' so much as wanting to have sex.>>25855
It was only 30% trigger at the beginning so I thought it might just stay that way the whole time.
