It's nice to see a fantasy set in medieval japan. Those have become far too rare.

Looking up online this is apparently based on a shounen manga from the 1960's.
Now either this is a grimdark reimagining or 1960's japanese kids were psychopaths because jesus fucking christ this stuff is NOT suitable for young shounen eyes
I haven't read Dororo, but given that it's by Tezuka, and some of his stuff's pretty grotesque, I imagine that it's not a re-imagining so much as just closer to the manga than the 60's anime was.

I love the backgrounds.
Does anybody still make these themselves anymore and not on imgur or roflbot or something?
I like the contrast thing they did between the skinless guy and his brother
I don’t really think anyone makes these at all anymore except for maybe older people
I used to make my own, but it's easier to just use Imgur.

Neat episode. Who'd a thunk demons could reside in objects too.
Also, looks like Hyakkimaru's real father is catching on to his demon killing shenanigans.
>Who'd a thunk demons could reside in objects too.
anyone with even a passing familiarity with japanese mythology?
ah, Ryusei is making weird faces at nothing again…
Don't delete your posts weirdo! I wasn't expecting him to be a girl though, he seems like a regular young boy
Calling me a weirdo too…
How hurtful. It was a drunkpost, I regret it! And I thought it was a little girl at first when the opening played…
Doesn't he already know japanese though? I mean he understood dororo when he told him the monster was coming from the left
Maybe he can read lips?
I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard somewhere reading lips is impossible in Japanese because because it doesn't have a large enough variety of mouth movements.
Then again, I swear I've seen lipreading as a plot device in anime/manga.
He's blind anonymous…
You're right. I got nothin' then.
Uwah the fight against the giant bird thing in episode 5 was very cool. I really like the old sage dude. Also I'm surprised this show was so graphic about that girl being a prostitute
. I feel bad for her and I hope nothing bad happens to her and the kids. And poor Hyakkimaru, he starts to get his body back and then loses a leg to a bug demon.
Wonder if they're gonna have to visit the prosthetic guy now. I'm liking this show a lot more than I expected to, it's very fun.>>28748
He could have just heard it coming as well, he doesn't give much sign aside from that that he knows what anyone else is saying. I guess it's all demon magic anyways so it's whatever. Him liking the girl's singing is VERY cute haha.
Does Hyakkimaru have a wooden wiener?
that'd mean he'd always have wood huh

this…. is a not a kids show
despite being kinda cliche, the berserk rage combokill scene was really harrowing in a way that many other shows that try pulling it off never quite manage
please remind me to make a webm out of it later
if it is based on real folklore, I can 100% guarantee that yes he does
That's how Tezuka usually drew feet. It's weird, I agree, but it's cool they're staying close to his style.
I can appreciate that. Guess I should read it, too.

I always figured he drew them like that to mimic tabi.

he strikes again
I had a good laugh when Dororo immeditely tried to sell the smuggler out then called the quarry guards scum for lying to him about the reward.
Aww learning about Dororo's past was really sad ;_;
Her interactions with Hyakkimaru at the end of each episode are becoming real highlights for me, they are really cute.
Also they finally brought up her gender, interesting.
Pretty heavy episode…>>29042>Her interactions with Hyakkimaru at the end of each episode are becoming real highlights for me
Yeah they're fun.
I kind of expected him to be useless in an actual fight but he turned out to be good at fighter and strategist
it's cool how the chickens are coming home to roost and we're only barely at the halfway point
Well, the manga's only four volumes. I'd hope a studio with a reputation like TP's could pace an adaptation like this well. It's kind of sad that good pacing is even something so uncommon that it's notable nowadays.
That was quite a finale, yeah. Hyakkimaru confronting his family was done really well.
I had no idea this was going to be 2 cours until watching this episode, I'm pretty glad we're getting more of this show.
Yeah lol, I went back to watch that scene a few times. it's pretty weird they'd leave something like that in considering the rest of the show is pretty well animated.

Is anyone still watching this? It's looking like its going to be a pretty intense last few episodes.
I lost interest around the time the animation budget was reduced to 20 yen and a popsicle
That's not fair; Space Battleship Yamato was made on three fudgesicles and some pocket lint.
hey wow it actually gotten good again around ep. 19

It was a bit weak yeah, I could see tahomaru and hyakkimaru not killing eachother but I was really expecting him to stick with dororo after it was all said and done.
I do like how he gained his humanity back at the end though.
