Super interesting so far. Also they sure didn't waste any time dropping that first reveal about the purpose of the orphanage on us! I was under the impression that it was gonna be an action show for some reason but the idea of the kids having to outsmart/run away from the bad guys is super interesting, and I'm very excited to see where the show goes with it's world building. The test they took as well as the offhand mention of a world uninhabitable by humans makes me hope we're gonna see some cool demon society stuff later. Also Emma is adorable and I love her, even if her and everyone else has a bit of a potato face.

Mother is definitely suspicious. I'm interested to see the dynamic between them and the children as they learn more about each other.
She's pretty effectively creepy so far
I'm curious about that as well, I wonder to what extent she's being forced to do this or if she's actually just evil. The scene where she hugs Conny's drawing on the wall makes me curious. Also I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the "she's not human at all" card.
Also they kinda make the black lady out to be a good guy in OP with her hugging all the kids so I wonder if she's gonna be cool and help them out.
>>28505>black lady hugging the kids>i wonder if she's cool
It's possible she genuinely loves the kids without being aware of what really happens to them.
I wonder how many of the adults are complicit in this thing.
things are a bit on the nose, aren't they?
showing the adult's perspective and making the "traitor" and her spying so obvious is kinda disappointing
Yeah this episode was pretty bad. Dropped all subtlety that they had left.
I'm disappointed to see this show falling into the same old shounen trappings. Specifically the thing where characters take action based on wild leaps of logic that ALWAYS just so happen to turn out to be true. It's a really lazy shorthand way of making the characters seem super smart without having to write them as smart.
This show has been pretty alright still, all things considered. >>28647
still bugs me but looking past that there have been a lot of good Death Note-esque mind games and twists. I am saddened that with the rate the anime is going (assuming this is 1 cour?) we probably won't get to see much of them exploring whatever cool demon world exists outside the orphanage though.
>there have been a lot of good Death Note-esque mind games
you say it like it's a good thing…
Death Note was so dumb.
no, it was SMART
It is both good AND dumb
I like dumb things like that once in awhile.
Death Note was fun but it was really a “you had to be there” thing
I feel like it's probably an age/state of mind thing too. I read it in my early twenties (around the time it was popular) and thought it was edgy trash. I bet I would have loved it if it had come out when I was 14.
there are so many moving parts…. it begins to feel dangerously complicated
like the original mangaka never had a proper resolution in mind, he just kept adding more and more plot twists
not that I'm complaining or anything
after the initial twist of the idyllic house being a farm (boy who could've seen THAT one coming?) things were getting to be a bit of a slog because it was a more-or-less straightforward "how do we escape?" narrative.
But the last ~2 episodes really kept me on my toes. Sister Klow (or whatever her name is) really did uplift this show into something special.

Noa's otouto sure is cute. Lots of :3 faces this season.

My favorite part about this anime is seeing the stupid shocked look that shows up on every character's face whenever anything surprising happens.
I actually am quite liking the crazy black lady
She's a very entertaining sort of insane
I am getting a little anxious to see them actually put their plan into motion though
I'm like 60% sure this guy is the REAL traitor

Seeing all the mindgames and planning amount to nothing is funny and satisfying
like how many levels in are we now?
every time you think we've gotten to The Truth it just pulls the rug under ya
and there's still the old grandma's twists to go through!

there's something REALLY horrifying about Mom's real self, too.
breaking Emma's leg and them immediately cooing her is A+ psycho shit

I haven't read the manga, but a really fun way for the plot to go now would be all the children being told about the truth of the facility. I bet most of them wouldn't believe it, or believe it and take Mom's side. but the few that don't side with her (specifically those in the sshot) just go into semi-open rebellion
These kids are fucked. Really great episode, my favorite so far.
That surprised me, I didn't expect her to just tell him straight up
How did she know anyways? I guess it has something to do with the note that Krone found. I'm actually quite upset that she died, I was just starting to really enjoy her screen time>>28962
It was a really good scene yeah

I don't understand why Norman came back and revealed himself. They never intended for Norman to actually escape in the first place so why does it matter whether or not there is a cliff. He should have just stayed hidden. If they can't find another way to escape they can always mass suicide into the pit or start catapulting the little children over and hoping for the best.
Did he walk all the way around the wall to be sure there's no way out?
I don't understand how is it even legal to have this be only 12 episode.
We're at ep10 and it feels like barely the ending of the beginning, like everything up to now has been only a prologue.
This deserves to be a neverending shounen (like the source manga)
Pretty suspicious that they didn't show Norman dying, or even about to die. Were I to write the manga I would have him show up many chapters from now as a grizzled demon-world surviving veteran. Maybe with an eyepatch.
Also I'm still waiting on them to follow up that plot thread they started with the secret messages in the books.>>29061
Yeah that struck me as pretty stupid too. They could have just as easily tried to cobble together a zipline or glider or something while Norman hid. Ray is a apparently basically MacGyver.>>29236
I would actually love to see a second season of this, and that's not something I often say about shounen that get 1-cour anime adaptations like this (mostly just because I rarely care for them). I have no idea how popular this is though, but I would guess it's fairly big.
why cut off the entire ear instead of only the lobe?
Better safe than sorry.
