I was going to post about all my favorite mahou shoujos in this thread but it seems it's full of perverts…

I'm really enjoying Star Twinkle so far.
I love how Lala makes no effort to hide her ears, and no one seems to care.
I also really like Elena.
>>29036All adult mahou shoujo fans are perverts. No exceptions. One of the best things about modern Precure is watching how they walk the line between pandering to little girls and pandering to sad weird adult men.

Call me whatever, but I tend to prefer MS made explicitly for weird adult men to those that walk the line or are honestly made for little girls - and my favourite magical girls are those that employ technology so advanced as to be indistinguishable from magic.
Magic so techno-porned as to totally look like technology is also nice.

>>29094I feel like many "adult" mahou shoujo are just exercises in "Look, we took a children's genre and made it edgy! Isn't that deep or whatever?" Tokushusen Asuka, from this season is a really good example. I'm having fun watching it, but I feel a little dumber for it.
No.29114
>>29094Vividred Operation was fun but mostly just because
it gave me a boner>>29113>Tokushusen AsukaI watched one episode of that
It was fun in a "wow this is stupid and edgy" sort of way but not enough so that I wanted to see more. I audibly laughed when the obvious bad guy just shouted "quick, shoot some civilians as a distraction!"
On the other hand, I actually really like shows like Yuuki Yuuna and Symphogear and Madoka so there's definitely a balance you have to strike.
No.29122
>>29114Yuuki Yuuna and Madoka are some of the good ones. I haven't seen Symphogear.
I don't know that I'd call it "smart" or "good", but I also like Mahou Shoujo Ikkusei Keikaku a lot. It's fun and has really cool character designs.
No.29132
>>29113Just to be clear, when I said 'adult', paraphrasing that other anon, I was bringing up MS-for-perverts like vivipan and Komugi-chan, not grim MS.
On the topic of grim MS, I'd like to argue that there's a hard, well-defined line between edgy shows like Tokushusen Asuka and shows that have suffering but aren't edgy about it like YuYuYu and Madoka, but even I have to concede that MahoIku is ambiguous. Okay, I won't press this case, I'll just call things I like adult and mature and things I don't puerile trash, as waps have done for decades.
No.29148
>>29132>shows that have suffering but aren't edgy about it like YuYuYu and MadokaMadoka wasn't edgy?!
MahoIku wasn't really ambiguous. It was edgy, but it felt justified within the premise and most plot points had a logic chain of events leading up to them (SwimSwim being the notable exception). Out of all the edgy/adult-oriented MS, I still think MahoIku is the best of the lot.

Someone should make a loop of Lala and Terumi yelling "Lun" at each other.
I can't wait for the inevitable Nurse Madoka/Doctor Elena doujinshi.
Looks like it's about time for the fifth Precure to show up.
