A fire was brewing in Kyoto Animation studio… except this time it's for real.
An angry train otaku from 2chan poured gasoline unto the Kyoto Animation studio, burning the place to the ground, injuring many and killing 33 people!
https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20190718_35/Here's the culprits reason for it:
https://soranews24.com/2019/05/31/we-just-wanted-to-see-them-stop-four-train-otaku-arrested-for-throwing-smoke-bombs-at-trains/https://soranews24.com/2018/10/11/woman-jailed-after-entering-japanese-train-cabin-with-key-bought-at-online-auction/
>I'll try to summarize: Train-obsessed photographer on 2ch's train board makes up the word "barisaku" for a specific way to get the lighting just right when photographing trains, and keeps spamming that phrase on 2ch so much he ends up getting nicknamed Barisaku-kun>Then KyoAni makes an anime about people who play in an orchestra ("Sound! Eufonium") where they use the word "barisaku" as a short for "bariton sakusofon" (bariton saxophone), and he thinks they stole his word that he was so proud of.>What really broke the camel's back was when KyoAni collaborated with the Kyoto public transportation authorities to decorate a train with anime characters from Sound! Eufonium.>From then on he went to 2ch's/5ch's anime board every single day to shitpost about how KyoAni ruined his life.>But the threads suddenly stopped yesterday.>The arsonist was overheard by witnesses as shouting "They ripped me off!" over and over again. Don't really know what the soranews stuff you linked has to do with it, and well just to clarify, the supposed phrase was バリバリ観光してサクッと撮りましょう (energetically sightsee and take pictures quickly), abbreviated to バリサク (barisaku) which also became his nickname, and here's a thread where he supposedly goes cray cray:
https://matsuri.5ch.net/test/read.cgi/anime2/1562713045/
>響けユーフォ二アムのバリサクソロのせいで、俺様の人生は大きく狂った。絶対に許さないからな! Would be the thing to take out from it, where he goes "Eupho's barisax scene ruined me" pretty much.
That said, it's just 5ch speculation at this point, and this morning newspaper explicitly mentions novels being stolen, so at this point there's nothing certain of what was the real motive unless we have some official statement from the police I guess.

>>31361Ah, actually upon further research the whole "barisaku" thing meaning taking photos with certain lightning is also possible as it's supposed to come from the phrase 「バリバリ順行でサックとバリサク」

As for ongoing projects:
>In response to the studio KyoAni fire, Japanese movie distributor Shochiku Inc. has issued a statement about the upcoming Violet Evergarden movie and OVA episode, as well as the Free! 2020 movie. According to a Yahoo Japan report, the release dates for all three projects produced by Kyoto Animation Studio are “not expected to be affected at this time”.
>The official Twitter account for the Free! Iwatobi Swim Club anime series has announced that they have canceled the Free! 2020 movie teaser due to the KyoAni fire attack. The screening of Free! Movie 3: Road to the World was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, July 19, 2019.Source for that last part:

No.31371
>>31370You don't need to apologize, I just think it's better for people who speak the language to make threads about news stories so there's not misinformation instead of a bunch of "supposedly" and unsupported claims
No.31372
The barisaku thing is 2ch speculation. "supposedly" the suspect said he did it because they stole his LN plot (which makes a lot more sense, comparatively)

>>31371Well, the thing is that nobody really knows, as even the TV news reported about the barisaku thing at some point, yet Kyoto shinbun and yahoo news (which pulls info from the aforementioned newspaper) say it's about novels. So far the only one who truly knows about the motivation for this is the arsonist himself and he's also in the hospital.
As for people alive it's mostly just people reporting for people they know being alive or not as in
https://archive.is/8ZFl0 , so no wonder these are dubious claims. We're probably looking at a 2 week-full month period at the very least until we have some solid lists of who made it.
Rumors and motivations aside the important thing that we know for sure is that many talented lives were lost in a very tragic and unexpected way so it makes one wonder what's gonna happen from now on in many aspects.

I haven't seen Violet Evergarden yet.
Would it be respectful to do so in light of this? Is it good?
Also between that I am a spammer, please tell me to leave, kudasai!anner writing clichés on his gun and livestreaming himself shooting up a Mosque while blasting Eurobeat and probably the deadliest mass murder in post-WWII Japan being someone burning down a fucking anime studio, I genuinely feel like there's a glitch in the matrix and reality is off the fucking rails.
