To start things off I guess I'll say I've been playing Sengoku Rance for the past few days.
It's a surprisingly good strategy game, if a bit lacking in difficulty beyond the weird, softer time limits you're not told much about.

I started playing La-Mulana and Corpse Party. They're both good.

So are the two people who were playing FFXIV still playing?
Finally got my card set up and my internet is semi-reliable (though still not amazing), so I might try to renew my sub if you guys are still playing.
Yes, I play nightly from around 7:30EST to 11:30EST. If you're the guy whose on my list (I'm Nizzi) next time youre on I'll invite you to our FC.
I'm the guy who played the VTE (Very Toll Elf)
I'll see if I can get on by this weekend
You're still on my list, but I'm way ahead of you now. I'm leveling Dark Knight right now and I'm 60 in Paladin.
I can help you with basically all content you'll need to do though!
Yeah I can guess honestly
If I get on I'll probably just try to power level through shit, half the reason I'm so low level is because I have like level 10 in every class instead of just buckling down and focusing im gay
Just find a class you like and stick with that through out the main story
There are a few classes that start at 30/50 like Samurai and Red Mage (starts at 50) and you just need to own their expansions to unlock them in Ul'Dah, so if you really don't want to level you could always pick those
No I'm fine with levelling, I'm just the type who likes to dabble a little
Weird, I don't have that error. It just DCs me to the main menu. Do you own all the expansions?
I'm Nizzi Hylehatch, send me a friend request or post your name here and I'll add you if you can't.>>25036
Only the beginning and the end two dungeons of ARR have that fortunately.
My DCs are probably different from yours>do you own all the expansions
Not whatever the newest one is but yes for the one for dragon girls
I wasted my free Fantasia changing my voice since the original was fucked though so I can't make myself a catgirl or dragon girl.
Also I don't think I can add you unless you're online since my search turns up nobody
Why the hell is FFXIV so ass fucking backwards
You get a free Fantasia when you complete the ARR story so don't worry, you'll be fine if you want to become a cute catgirl.
Is your name still Vianne? I'll add you.
No it's Aurelia now but I got kicked out and can't log back in for a bit
Gimme a moment
Whats the full name
I fucking despise fetch quests
Especially ones surrounded by aggro mobs
Fuck you and your fucking eggs go order some from the grocer ffs
this post inspired me to actually try reading Tsukihime after it sat on my HDD for like 5 years
Wish me luck. I hope I'll manage to play through at least one route before getting bored.
Just so you know, Nasu is working on the Tsukihime remake and said it was currently in test play. It might get released next year.
It's really rough around the edges but it's a pretty emotional story in a way Fate can't really be by design. I still like it better than anything else TM has put out.
It's a Nasu VN so it's infinitely long but good luck
Unfortunate that the best routes (Akiha, Kohaku) are later than the shittier ones and that Sacchin is missing entirely.>>25069
Can't tell if this is a joke or if it's just a poor fool
>the best routes (Akiha, Kohaku)
haha I'm right in the first scene in the mansion and I had the feeling these are the best girl
I guess you can't call it short but it's not really very long either compared to a lot of other popular VNs. It's probably a breeze to anyone who's read a lot of keyshit or anything from Ryukishi07.
Yeah but this is icicle we're talking about
>>25071>Can't tell if this is a joke or if it's just a poor fool
??? I know its been in dev hell forever but Nasu's recent interview made it sound like it was almost finished. Maybe I'm being too optimistic…
Nasu is a fucking liar and I'll believe it when I see it
Never trust a mushroom.
MMOs didn't have main quests back in my day
Back in the good old days the grind was the destination, not the journey
And the real exp was the friends you made along the way
FFXIV is kind of like a single player game with an MMO attached to it. It's a bit weird but I like it a lot.
That's how most MMOs are these days
They're like extra grindy single player RPGs with always-on multiplayer component
Runescape still brings back good memories but I'm honestly not sure if that was because it was really that good or if I was a kid and everything had its little wonders when you're young
It got popular because it was free and ran in your browser but it was also a well-designed game with a variety of interesting things to do which is probably why a billion people still play it today
I used to mostly play it on the computers in the school library since someone was always on the phone at home, good times
Funny how I can't connect to xiv right after I bought half a year of subscription innit
Runescape was great in a sort of really basic way
It's weird how different it is from all the other MMOs though. Although I suppose 'all the other MMOs' are basically just WoW clones in the end so of course they're different from a game that predates WoW.
Sad how Jagex lost the plot.
MMOs were pretty diverse and experimental before the WoW clone era
Even all the new kickstarter MMO projects are mostly "classic" kinda traditional games more than anything else
That's not a bad thing necessarily but there's really no going back to the days before WoW when there was no benchmark of of what an MMORPG was supposed to be like
Mature markets are boring alright
Well I still have some hope for some of the kickstarter games like DAOC unchained and crowfall that claim to be both innovating and building on classic MMO design
Blue Protocol also looks like it at least fits my aesthetic tastes and bandai-namco definitely know how to make RPGs
Maybe I'll join you guys in ff14 one of these days when I'm less busy while I wait for those, I heard shadowbringers was good
You can be the seventh in the guild!

went from "hey it's the girl i recognize from the internet" to "HOLY SHIT WTF" in 5 mins
>it's largely caused due to the soundfonts used
holy crap that might be it
I actually prefer the CD version then. still, where can I get the original songs? maybe I'll mix-and-match them b/c some of the songs can get a bit grating
File: 1360668541246.jpg (10.31 KB, 391x325) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size.
And to make things even more confusing the OST is called "Ever After" but so is the version of the VN itself that came in the Tsukibako compilation pack, which has the original game soundtrack with slight differences and a different track 10. So technically there are two versions of the VN soundtrack, one of which came on a version of the VN called "Ever After" and then there's also the "Ever After OST" that was a standalone music CD release with complete rearrangements and no track 10, which means unless you installed directly from an original disc image and applied the patch you could have the original/Tsukibako/Ever After soundtrack with either the original electric guitar track 10 or the piano track 10 that was replaced in the Tsukibako rerelease, or you could have the "Ever After OST" rearrangements with either track 10 depending on which version of the VN the original uploader replaced the soundtrack of.
Or something like that, I think. My memory don't work so good no more.
I was going to upload it but then I remembered somebody uploaded pretty much every Tsukihime thing you'd ever need, so here:https://mega.nz/#F!h51nzC6S!5T9zfPETV764eJNx5YHu5A
My preferred setup is the original with the Tsukibako track 10, since that's a better ending credits track than the generic electric guitar riffs. Most people seem to feel pretty strongly about preferring the original/Tsukibako or the Ever After OST but I think they're both pretty good.

Shiki is the most powerful character in Type-Moon but he's also a weak, lonely psycho and overreliant on his magical girlfriends. He's the best MC Nasu's ever written.
finally, i can now have discussions about who shiki can and cannot win against again
File: gudako-015.png (187.26 KB, 640x800) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size.
Oh my god I suddenly remember this scene haha
Yeah, Shiki is a fucking cunt, he's not generic at all. Nasu has a ton of problems but he avoids the pitfall of the boring generic MC in his earlier works. That can't be said with Extra (snark isn't character) or especially GO.>>25217

Prince of Saudi Arabia has a Steam account named "Sweetheart Yuki Yukeo"https://gurugamer.com/esports/prince-of-saudi-turned-out-to-be-a-big-dota2-fan-3074
>It was long ago confirmed that the owner of this Steam account is indeed the prince of the oil giant Saudi Arabia. The Prince of Saudi Arabia was famous for leveling his 2017 and 2018 Battle Pass to 58,000 and 150,000 respectively, contributing the largest part to the prize pool those years, which is approximately $86,000. He also owns a large inventory with some of the rarest items ever created in the game.
>Apparently, the Prince seems to be a fan of anime-ist games and characters as well. He also features items and products from many other animated games.
Whoa he's playing dota 2 right now.
It's not surprising though. Games and anime are pretty popular in the Middle East.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised but can you just imagine a guy in full jewels and wearing a crown and probably silks lined with gold thread watching Wataten or something?

You're is still the Arc route, right? I don't really remember which scenes overlapped and which didn't anymore. It gets even weirder in the other routes though, just you wait.Who did you choose in the dream scene?
I think I'm approaching the end now.

I wonder who that one "no good ending" girl is?
I bet it's the one from the beginning who just disappeared after the first act
It can hard to objectively look at Tsukihime because it was an early experience for a lot of people but it really does strike an excellent balance between character-based emotional storytelling and good old chuunishit. Sort of like an examination of emotional and psychological issue through the lens of a setting that's more familiar to the kind of people who read VNs. For me the fantasy elements actually make it more engaging because it taps into a childhood mentality that got beaten out of me by life as I grew up and puts me into a state more vulnerable to emotional storytelling than I otherwise would be. Arcade and all the other route characters have genuine depth and elicit real empathy, and so does Shiki himself. It's kind of a gentle story in a way that's not really common in power fantasy action type stuff. Honestly, it's the only reason I maintained any interest in TM, and probably the most valuable thing to come out of it, though to be fair I haven't gotten around to Mahoyo.
well as an EXTREMELY OBJECTIVE opinion-haver who read it through the first time, I can tell you with 100% certainty it IS very very good.
>the fantasy elements actually make it more engaging because it taps into a childhood mentality that got beaten out of me by life as I grew up and puts me into a state more vulnerable to emotional storytelling than I otherwise would be
That is a very good way of putting it… it really was refreshing in a way. Just a good in-depth story about vampires and maids and nuns, with zero irony or self-awareness to it. It's so contagiously sincere it's hard not to be taken in.
i'm honestly more surprised you havent read it
tsukihime feels like one of those things that anyone worth a lick of salt has read and is well versed on
It's old and doesn't have an anime adaptation to build interest. I don't think it's really ubiquitous except among people who read VNs, and even then nowhere near as much so as FSN and MLA and whatnot.
I don't usually do the whole "reading" thing.
(it's the first VN I ever finished)
It honestly depends on how much oldfag are you. Back in the days there weren't much choice for vns to read, and tsukihime was more prominent. I'd be surprised if people still read f/sn these days instead of just watching the anime or play the gacha.
and who know, I might even consider reading ANOTHER VN! Tsukihime has a proper sequel, and I do have Fate/stay night sitting on my harddrive…
Except Steins;Gate. I tried watching the anime and it bored me to tears. I can't imagine trying to READ through that.
Maybe I'll finally get around to playing Higurashi. I think dementia has set in deep enough for me to (mostly) forget the anime plot.
(this is me asking for suggestions/recommendations)
Read SubaHibi in Japanese.
It depends on what you are primarly searching for, but for me Cross Channel is the perfect VN. It's also not insanely long.
Fate/stay night is amazing. It's one of my favorite VNs. It gets a lot of shit these days, but that's typically due to people pissed off about how the Fate series has gone, and I'd agree with them. There are only two good Fate VNs/games, and that's Fate/stay night and Fate/hollow ataraxia
Fate is way longer than Tsukihime though, so if you're looking for something the same length or shorter, I wouldn't pick FSN.
Don't read this unless you want to be spoiled minorlyThe first story, "Fate", is extremely boring and you'll have to sit through it to get to Unlimited Blade Works, which is great, and then Heavens Feel, which is one of the best storylines in a VN I've ever read. You NEED to read Fate though because it sets up a lot of things in UBW and HF that wouldn't make sense without it.
>>25350>There are only two good Fate VNs/games, and that's Fate/stay night and Fate/hollow ataraxia
I thought the Prisma Illya 3DS game was pretty good…
3D-poi ga warui
The problem with Fate Stay Night is that the Fate route is definitely the worst of the lot, and that it takes an approach to storytelling that effectively revolves around you playing it three times in a row. Shirou's (and Saber's, and Rin's) character arcs don't happen linearly but in a sort of parallel sequence, across three separate routes.>>25345
Do the Akiha route, skip currybutt.
That's how almost every VN works though. They're called routes for a reason, not chapters.
In Fate's case, Shirou's entire character hinges on you playing the game all three times. You don't NEED to play most other games with routes through every route to get a handle on the main character.
Are you guys still playing
I can't believe I'm missing the halloween event AND wasting sub time
>>25364>You don't NEED to play most other games with routes through every route to get a handle
It's pretty common outside straight romance and nukige stuff actually. I think it's just more pronounced in FSN because you're actually not allowed to move onto the other routes without finishing the previous ones, though I think that might have changed in Realta Nua.
Actually that's pretty much the norm in VNs. I'm not really sure what you're going on about. It only doesn't matter in ones where the MC doesn't matter at all and that's not really common at all either except again, in just pure non-dramatic romance and nukige.
I tried the trial the other day, but I'm still thinking about whether to buy it. I keep reading about how all the jobs I want to play got ruined by the new patch and I'm not sure I want to get into MMOs again.
What do you mean ruined
And I mean I should suppose that you can't really be ruined if you don't know what it's already like
I personally really enjoyed it for what it's worth, even if I can't fucking get on right now
I mostly wanted to play astrologist and scholar because I like playing support roles but from what I hear they've been gutted of most of their uniqueness and are more just variations of white mage now, correct me if I'm wrong.
Also the idea that every job contributes significantly to DPS while some have other roles is kind of weird to me but seems kind of fun too. I'm mostly just thinking over whether I really want to pick up MMO again because I really don't want to return to EVE or play something like Runescape and I'm not very familiar with regular MMOs. I'm really digging the graphics and polish though, it's a very pretty and smooth game so far.
>>25373>tried the trial
It's up to level 35 for free I believe, why not keep playing?
>>25376>correct me if I'm wrong
I've no idea, I'm nowhere near that high level and spent most of my time cooking.
Well the guild the anon made is not huge so it's not like it's raid-heavy or something
Ask him for an invite when he's online next time I suppose. FFXIV can be ass fucking backwards when it comes to anything.
I'm online right now!
If you're on the free trial you can't add people but I can add you, so let me know your name and I'll send an invite.
It's Almara Zalmoxa. I'll probably play some more this weekend.
I can't add you unless your on, so post when you're online and I'll hop on and add you!
I'm not doing much but I'm online now.
I sent you a friend request
Neat! What job are you maining?
Probably Astrologian but I'm not high level enough to get a job yet. The campaign is pretty long, as expected of a Final Fantasy game.
I like this Darth Vader guy and his magitek starship.
Are you still online by chance?
Sorry I went to bed after finally managing to walk to Thanalan from the Shroud without getting killed and then finding out the quest only works if you take the airship.
It's kind of weird to have content gated by solo campaign progression but on the other hand it's pretty cool that it's like a proper full-size JRPG baked into an multiplayer game.
Ah, don't mind. That sucks though… I'm pretty sure they're pretty explicit about taking the airship though lol.
And yeah, the story's pretty neat. There's lots of times where it will not let you take party members into special story instances to further the plot.
cute! she should be a 6 star though…
Anyone else playing Ryza?
I thought about it, tried getting into the Atelier series before but it didn't stick. Is is good?
It's an Atelier game so no lol
Yeah its alright. The combats cool, the alchemy system is fun, and the characters are great. Only thing you need to be prepared for is non-stop dialogue and cutscenes. I don't know if the previous games were like this but I can't even trigger a sidequest without it turning into a cutscene, its annoying. There also doesn't seem to be much of an incentive to do sidequests either when most of the time its "talk to x and complete", I was hoping for more "craft x" type quests. But I'm only 15 hours in and it doesn't feel like much especially when I just got my second party member.
Have you tried googling the fix for that
Yes the fix is me moving to Canada
It's Nier Automata
Apparently this is a known problem but I don't know how to work around it
Well the fix is to clearly activate windows
It still doesn't work, it always freezes on this intro boss fight
I honestly don't know why
You didn't follow my advice and activate windows
Jeez these screenshots are huge. Do you have one of those huge 23-inch monitors for maximum immersion or are you playing on a mac or something?
I use a 4K but I set games to QHD out of habit>>25745
Pay for windows or I'll find you
Set the difficulty to easy, equip all the auto-chips and hope it doesn't crash after the boss fight.
Why is Squeenix so incompetent
I'm reading online that this was a day one known issue, how is it not fixed yet wtf
It ain't the 90s anymore, bud. They know you'll buy their games whether they work or not.
Well, it turns out the way to make the game work is to treat it as if it does come from the 90s and turn your resolution down to Windows2k levels.
2B's movements are really smooth, I have to say. If only SE's code was also this smooth and sexy.
Of course just as I say that it freezes
This is fucking absurd, let me fucking save already
Aaa finally got it to work
How is the Nier collab in FFXIV by the way?
I don't remember having any problems playing it on PC. But I wasn't playing it on 4K.
It seems like an Nvidia card thing from what I see online
Anyway it works now so all's well that ends well. If only FF worked so I could get the robutt in FF too…
Seeing everyone in 2B outfits is really weird haha but I haven't been able to do it yet
Do it so when I get back on I can at least watch someone in the tubee outfit I won't get at this rate
I'm almost done with Stormblood and going into Shadowbringers so the plan is so have it within the next month

Is it like AA except with robots? Or does the girl actually have a basic AI?
Haven't actually played the game itself, I've only been messing with the character creator. Apparently the gameplay is some form of survival + dating and the girls are androids or something. I wish we could get a new AA entry. Illusion usually alternates between anime and real graphics in their projects so the next one will probably be more like AA/Koikatu.
Their Honey Select looking stuff has been way better than their anime showing gameplay wise
I don't remember what they gameplay was like but illusion were never really good with their gameplays. Admittedly the anime style games in recent years have been pretty much iterations of AA, and whilst I do like the series, I'd rather they invest in newer, more expansive gameplay rather than the character maker.
>>25666>I was hoping for more "craft x" type quests.
lol what do you mean, almost every quest is "craft x"
I feel that. H-scenes thrown in haphazardly are super annoying.
Uh, I posted that pretty early in the game and have unlocked more quests since then so yeah there's more crafting quests. I still haven't beaten it either, kind of lost interest at the final boss area.
I still can't get on so it's less a matter of whether or not I want to to be honest, but OK
No problem, I'll come back once things slow down a bit out here. I'll tell you when I do.
