I remember watching some anime with Saint-Saens music, don't remember if it was Nodame or Shigatsu though. Very nice nonetheless.

The guitar riff reminded me of this artifact of a bygone era
Which in turn gave me the idea of watching haibane renmei as my last anime of the 2010s.

Good choice, you've seen it before I take it? It's one of my all time favorites, in no small part because it has a gorgeous OST. I always listen to it and the Sora no Woto OST around the holidays actually, it's my christmas decorating music.
Anonymous 12/20/19 (Fri) 18:07:20 No. 27076 >>27052 >you've seen it before I take it?
Absolutely not. I've seen it being talked about here and it seems to be the perfect way to pass that particular time frame. Had I known boogiepop phantom was as good as it was, I would have saved it for a better time.
To keep this post on topic, here's another artifact of a bygone era.

Iron-Chino releases way too many albums. Their songs range from mediocre to great for me. They occasionally release a fully great album though. Japonism from last year ended up being one of my favorite albums from 2019.

this band's pretty good! I remember trying to find something like this a while ago but having mixed results. Started listening to some Aldious, they're alright but didn't scratch the particular itch I had fully.
Anonymous 01/21/20 (Tue) 18:24:47 No. 27897 >>27892
Aldious is pretty OK. Their first couple of albums with Rami may get some power metal fans going, but I was never too into it. When they switched vocalists to Re:NO, the band started having some stylistical confusion with the insertion of pop punk and jrocky tracks in there as well. I found it somewhat interesting, but it wore off on me after a while. They switched vocalists again recently (Rin), but have yet to record anything new with her. I'm not sure why I follow a band so closely that I don't really like that much, but maybe one day they'll surprise me.
By the way if you aren't aware, DenKare's members are nearly 1-to-1 the same people that are in Yousei Teikoku. It's not "official," but there's been plenty of obvious hints dropped over the years plus Yui's voice is really obvious. Yousei Teikoku's early stuff is more electronic/dark wave, but around Pax Vesania and onward they started going full metal so it pretty much sounds like DenKare. Actually, they're supposed to finally release a new album this year so I'm pretty pumped for that.
Anonymous 01/22/20 (Wed) 18:56:56 No. 27913
I like this dark Miku. The style reminds me of later Ulver. Also the lyrics hit a certain spot.
Ryusei !6/WWxs9O1s 01/23/20 (Thu) 10:17:23 No. 27931 >>27897
Yeah, I've only listened to two of their albums (both of which I cant find on my PC for some reason) and they've got a few nice songs. It all spun off of hearing some power metal on a Sound holic album and wanting more of that style of music lol.
Havent heard of Yousei Teikoku either, so I'll give em a listen too. thanks!

I used to be into tricot but I sort of fell off of them (and math rock in general actually). I listened to the new MV they released recently and thought it was pretty OK. Other people may feel differently than me, but they don't sound as energetic or inspired as the older days.

Anonymous 01/31/20 (Fri) 04:12:40 No. 28043
Yep sure do. They were great. The main guy's project is Jyocho now which is essentially more of the same. Jyocho was another band I fell off of after a while. There's absolutely wrong with them. I just got tired of the general style I suppose. I'm more of a metal guy.

Yeah it seems to have peaked a while ago in terms of quality. I was also pretty disappointed on Cö shu Nie's new album. The anime songs plus a couple others are good, but a lot of it is super bland.

Math rock in one sentence.
Anonymous 02/01/20 (Sat) 03:08:01 No. 28062
The relatively limited range of guitar tones doesn't really help. Most bands are pretty much clean. Some add a lot of distortion, but they tend to be more on the noisey part of the spectrum which isn't something I find appealing.
